The Role

The Big Picture

Reporting to the Director, B2B Marketing, as the Senior Manager, Marketing Operations & Analytics, you will work closely with all functional areas of the B2B marketing team to operationalize marketing and sales programs. As a marketing professional who is passionate about designing and optimizing business processes to support strategic initiatives, you will own the development of our digital tech stack, maintaining governance of those systems and working with cross-functional teams to execute various programs. Quick question for you - click here

You’ll lead a small team of 2 direct reports, and you’ll also manage the vendor relationship with our third party agency that handles some of our technical work. You can also expect to work hand-in-hand with Sales Operations as you partner to identify adjustments to overall strategy as well as technical issues in SalesForce.

The role includes both strategic and tactical elements. For example, at a high level you will help define overall processes and ensure alignment with our goals. On a day-to-day basis you will drive the execution of campaigns, foster best practices and provide mentorship and coaching to your team.

Campaign Lifecycle
Once our Demand Generation team develops campaign strategy and content development, the project gets handed over to your team. From there, the Marketing Ops team is responsible for execution and building out the programs in the various marketing platforms. The core technology we use is Marketo, which integrates with SalesForce, and we will look to you to leverage your expertise in this area to operationalize programs, track their effectiveness, and report back on marketing and sales performance. You’ll manage Marketo, social platforms and advertising platforms--as well as all of our performance metrics. It will be your mission to help us implement what is right, not just what is easy.

Some more detail…
More specifically, your essential functions will be to:
  • Evaluate, recommend and manage new and existing technology solutions.
  • Manage the integration of systems with Marketo and SFDC.
  • Manage the build and execution of programs in all of our systems.
  • Provide campaign metrics and implement operational improvements to support revenue acceleration.
  • Manage Marketo governance and demand waterfall best practices.
  • Manage vendor relationships and budget the hours they bill to us.
  • Work cross-functionally with other business owners and teams to integrate workflows and automate manual processes.
  • Be an expert in testing and optimization for our programs and our overall funnel performance.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and process breakdowns in our lead-to-revenue management framework.
  • Be responsible for hiring, performance management and mentoring a marketing operations team/function within the B2B marketing team.

Why RentPath

Ground-floor opportunity
We’re at the beginning stages of building out the foundation of our tech stack, and we’ve created some of the core components and integrations--but there is still a lot of work to be done. You will play an integral role in continuing to establish this function and roll-out new programs and processes as we get up to speed and present the concept to the rest of the organization.

Stay on the cutting-edge
As you already understand, one of the cool things about Marketing is that it is always changing, innovating and evolving. If you’re a person who thrives on change and loves keeping up with the latest trends, this could be the ideal opportunity for you. You’ll help build the framework we need to build revenue and work to stay ahead of the curve.

Rewards for the earning
Some people call it performance driven; we call it rewarding people for doing awesome work. Being awesome takes time and effort, of course, but top performers can count on being recognized, financially and through new opportunities.

Intriguing challenges
We're working in a category that is not yet mature, meaning there is plenty of room for pushing boundaries and exploring great ideas. We already mentioned that you will be involved in major initiatives that will directly impact our bottom line. You'll also build out your team within the context of a department that is evolving in philosophy and structure. Other projects on the near horizon include assisting with the national rollout of lead management within Marketo, defining the changes that need to be reflected inside SalesForce, driving transparency throughout the company, and creating dashboards that will be used to measure our effectiveness moving forward.

Leadership to disrupt the market
The Director, B2B Marketing, has been laying the groundwork not only for establishing a scalable team and function, but also for bringing an innovative and highly sophisticated approach -- we market to marketers, and we simply have to deliver exceptional results. This same spirit spans the entire company, as we have a new, dynamic CEO in place. Marc LeFar brings 30 years of experience in transforming companies to drive success. For example, as CEO of Vonage he led the expansion into new markets, resulting in dramatic shareholder returns. As CMO of Cingular Wireless (now AT&T Mobility), he worked with Steve Jobs and his team in developing the exclusive partnership that launched the iPhone.

Equity confidence
RentPath is backed by two leading private equity firms. TPG is a leading global private investment firm with offices worldwide and $70 billion in assets under management. Current and past investments include Airbnb, CAA, Cirque du Soleil, Lynda.com, SurveyMonkey and Uber. Providence Equity Partners is a premier global asset management firm with $45 billion in assets under management. Providence pioneered a sector-focused approach and is the leading equity investment firm focused on the media, communication, education and information industries. We like to think of ourselves as a 40-year-old "start-up" with deep pockets.

Excellent benefits
We value our employees and demonstrate our strong appreciation by providing competitive compensation and an outstanding benefits package. Benefits include health, vision, dental, life and other insurances; a 401(k) plan with company match; 11 paid holidays; generous paid time off and more.

Pictured: RentPath's brands include some of the leading websites connecting renters to a place to call home. Behind those consumer-facing sites is a suite of marketing tools for professionals in multifamily building management.

Keys to Success

To excel in this role you will possess both technical skills and the interpersonal abilities to gain cross-functional buy-in throughout the organization. We’re looking for a marketer who can communicate the technical reasons as to why we are making a change so that the key stakeholders have a firm understanding of how changes and implementations will have a positive impact. You’ll serve as an advisor and ambassador to other A-players throughout the organization as your share knowledge as our subject matter expert.

Although we’ve placed an emphasis on the technical components to this role, to truly thrive here it will be essential that you have a firm understanding of Sales. At the end of the day, everything we are doing is designed to help Sales, and it will be critical that you can position things to the team so they can see the immediate outcomes of your efforts.

In fact, we consider ourselves a very well-funded start-up that also has more than 40 years in the industry and strong financial performance.
